Macs arent any more stable or reliable than PCs, and PCs are much more compatible with other programs. Stick with PCs, possibly go from XP to win 2000 if you want less of a resouce hog.

The registry has little to do with programing directly. You dont need to know a programming language to edit the registry. You just go to start, run, and type reg edit. (Dont change anything unless you know what you are doing!!!)

I don't think scientists really know where they are. They dont even have direct proof they exist.

Thats hardly realavent given that learnign DOS wont get you anywhere, Windows 2000 and XP do not have DOS at all, therefore unless you are workingwith 9x systems DOS is useless.

Only problem with that is the only IE only site I know of is windows update... which isnt exactly somthing you can find an alternative for. (I will shoot anyone who even thinks of saying linux)
