Water solubility test Test water solubility of 2-FMA and 4-FA to see if findings are similar to those explained in other solubility tests. Will test different amounts of the specimens (2-FMA and 4-FA) weighed in milligrams and pre-seperated in gel-caps, due to lack of other housing, in different amounts of water and collect results. After results are collected and analyzed, solutions will be disposed of. I will be obtaining everything to do the experiment and doing it as described: To verify that a compound has dissolved, add 5% HCl to the NaOH mixture until the solution is acidic to pH paper. Look for a precipitate, indicating that the water-soluble salt has converted back into the water-insoluble compound. Solubility in NaOH indicates either the carboxylic acid or phenol.
