MS-SQL Server Rate Topic: -----

Why does having an active MS-SQL Server Database intermittently suspend the loading sequence of non-systems software at startup? Even with my Max-IOPs drive, it still hangs for a minute 3 out of every 4 or so system start-ups. This isn't an error, this much I know. It is simply a by-product of activity that I have never looked deeper into and am really curious as to the cause.

That actually makes sense, because the only programs it affects at startup are programs that want to connect to the internet. It does look as though it is searching for something.

But that is SSMS, not the server itself.

I've never had issues with SSMS . . .

Meh, I'll go post on MSDN. The gurus should have an answer.
