Oil?

Crude oil is mostly hydrocarbons, but it can have thousands of different hydrocarbons. Too many to list anyway, and they are usually compared in terms of the average size of hydrocarbon, and then on broad categories of hydrocarbons, such as alkanes or aromatics.

eh, give me all of them. Wouldn't they all be similarly related? If not just give me a random list of a few. And spell out the words cause i'm not a chemist. Thanks for the help.

 

CH3-(CH2)5-CH3 septane

CH4 methane

CH3-(CH2)7-COH2 non-1-ol

C4H10 butane

CH3CH2-O-CH2CH3 Diethyl ether

CH3(CH2)6CH3 Octane

CH3(CH2)1000CH3 .....?.....

 

what do you mean by oil? its consistency/Physical properties? Hydrocarbon by nature?
