Banna virus (BAV) is a 12-segment, double-stranded RNA virus that is classified in the family Reoviridaeand the genus Seadornavirus. BAV was first isolated from encephalitis patients in southern China, Yunnan Province, Xishuangbanna Prefecture, in 1987.
