Non-magnetic Suicide Bombers

Has anyone heard about explosive devices that cannot be detected by a magnetometer? What can we do about that? It could become impossible to detect explosives worn (or surgically implanted) in suicide bombers. Or is there a way to detect them? The political implications are enormous, we would finally become a "police state" thanks to some whacko jihadis with undetectible bombs.

BTW, on this subject, see the recently aired video called "Terror at the Mall" about the Westgate Mall attack in Nairobi by 4 Al Shabaab dim-witts, ranging in age from 19 to 23. There were many mall cameras following the action. Interesting to see what we may be up against. Here in the USA the mostly likely attack we will see is something like this kind of "soft target" mall attack by jihadis who intend to suicide by SWAT, after they kill as many as possible with assault rifles and granades. Attention mall cops, get some heavy weaponry.

You can detect chemically, which is already a thing. But currently there are so many gaping holes in the TSA's security charade, what's one more?

You want heavy weaponry in the hands of people who couldn't make the grade as a regular cop? For a thus-far nonexistent threat?

Homemade electrical systems can be quite easily made with very small amounts of metal.

Detonators do not necessarily need metal components, and the amount of wire can be kept to a minimum. As well as that, such small amounts are unlikely to be picked up by standard airline security metal detectors. When required, an electric battery to set off the device can be taken from some other innocent electrical device like a phone.

Plastic mines.

Solution I propose:
Dogs. - They can sniff out chemicals . It's also affordable.

Also chemical detectors.

But I don't think there's any need to scare civilians with heavier security though like more dangerous weapons.

Prevent the troublemakers from entering in the first place.

With the rise of IS, fear of terrorism is fashionable again. Pity, really. If you want to avoid preventable deaths, focus on actual threats. Why pour billions into this, when ebola struggles to get an additional 88 million?

You have to accept that 100% security from terrorists is not possible, and that it is ridiculous to pour billions into a system that may prevent several deaths (how many deaths can a suicide bomber with an implanted bomb cause? Ten? A hundred at most!).

I agree with some members above that it is not a good idea to equip police with heavier weapons. Some of those weapons will inevitably fall into the wrong hands, and a person with an automatic weapon is potentially just as dangerous as a terrorist with a bomb.

So it is currently doable to carry an explosive on, or in, your body that has so few tiny metal parts or wires, that they will not set off a metal detector? The only way to catch those is by x-ray scan or chem detectors, or dogs? All they need to do is insulate the device so well that it gives off NO odors to be detected and it conforms to the contours of common items. This is as scarry as hell! How many pounds of explosives does a passenger need to carry onto an airliner, or concealed in luggage, in order to bring down the plane?

Just have assault rifle training for better qualified private security, and they get paid more. We can also wait until we experience our first ISIS attack and learn from that.

"Prevent troublemakers from entering" is a tall order, since hundreds of our own citizens are being radicalized. "Come on bro, join jihad, we have a lot of fun."

That depends on the size and shape of the plane. But also where the passenger is seated.

A standard size airliner, what about 747? My assumption is a suicide bomber with the bomb on, or in, their body, would get out of their seat and pretend to go to the bathroom and then go to the weakest point available to him. He would snuggle up against the wall I suppose, where it is weakest. How many pounds of explosives?

Being scared is playing into terrorism hands, as the purpose of true terrorism is to induce fear or terror. :P

You are not scarred at the prospect of dozens of suicide bombers getting onto airliners with bombs that are no longer detectable?
