Hormone Stimuli

Recommended Posts

What are the stimuli for the production of steroid hormones, such as testosterone and somatropin?

I've heard that increased protein consumption can increase production, but have seen no validation. I have also heard that fasting, which results in low blood sugar, can increase production of GH for homeostasis.

Are these true or even plausible? What other factors can stimulate production of steroid hormones?

"genetic/hereditary" factors are already obvious.

Thanks

Nevermind. i already found the answer since no one was replying. found it over here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Growth_hormone.

"Stimulators of GH release include (among others) sleep, exercise, hypoglycemia, dietary protein, and estradiol. Inhibitors of GH secretion include dietary carbohydrate and glucocorticoids."

Wikipedia always works.
