Calculating O2 Output vs CO2 Input

Recommended Posts

In a closed environment dependent on plants for Oxygen regeneration, it is necessary to balance CO2 supply for a needed level of O2. How does one calculate the O2 output in terms of the CO2 needed by the plants? Is there a range of efficiencies involved?

C6H12O6 + 602 -------> 6CO2 + 6H2O + ATP - cellular respiration formula

The amount of molecules of carbon dioxide and oxygen is the same, and all organic matierial is eventualy recycled.

The formula for cellular respiration is the formula for photosynthesis backwards (carbon dioxide + water ----> glucose + oxygen
