Some commend of booting

Primarygun

Recommended Posts

Safeboot - Boot with devices at normal configuration, settings are set to default (I think)

noguiboot-Boot with text only, and a shell. No gui.

bootlog - log boot session

basevideo - Default video settings I think

SOS - I knew this one, forgot it though.

is safeboot the same as safe mode?

if so then its a Windows start-up option that loads the system with the minimum number of drivers and information Windows needs to run

noguiboot is effectively like DOS, GUI = graphical user interface, so its a text based, line command OS.

bootlog is used for diagnosing booting probs.

SOS can refer to:

a software Operating System

Symbolic Operating System,

Supportability Online System,

System Operational Specification

graphical user interface

its like DOS is a text user interface because you type text, you get text

windows is a GUI because everything is graphical, you see icons, see a mouse cursor, open window frames (like IE is a fram, the firewall is a frame, each program is in its own frame).

safeboot = safe mode, general use to start windows when there's an error

noguiboot = DOS mode, used when windows is beyond use

bootlog = boot diagnostics

basevideo = never come across that

SOS = same as basevideo

also with XP there's 'safe mode + networking', which is useful for last second emergancy back up over the network + internet use

its spelt commands ;)

also, i know you are from hong kong, so i dont blame you, but saying "network is very powerful" is not a very good use of english, im not sure what you meant to say.

i guessed that was what you were saying although i wouldnt call safe mode + network very powerful because its not so powerful, its just useful... its not safe as you will have no security (firewalls or AVs) running, id say its only for emergancies.
