nortonAV2004 is annoying than a virus

Thanks to bloodhound.

Due to the subscription of update for the Norton-anti virus expired, then I downloaded the avast4.5 Home Edition. Free to update for 14 months after registered.

What will happen after 14 months? What happen if I reinstall it again?

Is the database enough to find out all the virus ? Better than Norton?

The panel likes real media, I found that it wasn't very user-friendly, maybe I need some time to settle

avast 4.5 home has a very wide userbase, and has as good as or better virus and trojan detection rate than norton.. yes i know, the gui sucks. but if u right click and go to enhanced mode. then its much better ( but wait!! its only available through proffesional version) avast 4.5 is relatively new, so cracking groups havent had time to release a keygen yet. if u stick with home for a while, and look around sites for keygen then i am sure u wil get the pro key someday. otherwise u can always look around the torrent sites as they always seem to have the key included .

[eidt[ home edition should be completely free, it should reregister itself once the 14 months passes.

lol I have all my software pirated n I think alot of people who have good ftp setup can get any piece of software for free. I have never paid for software and hope to never have to. I got norton 2005 free off suprnova.org[/b'] with a cd key n all and I also use ad-aware everyday because they are worse than viruses.

suprnova.org has shut down and will not be returning with ANY link to torrent downloads... probably because of the fact it was being used for illegal purposes.

When I check the space occupied by files and folders in C files by right click and press show the property, only about 12.0 GB space are occupied. However, my computer is shown that 26.0 GB of space are used altogether.

Why?

NOD32 seemed nice, does it provide trial?

well hidden and system files will account for some of that space as well as the operating system (OS) however that should not be 14GB of it!!! where does it say 26GB?

something MUST be wrong somewhere!

unless maybe the 26GB is free space and you looked at it wrong.

Auto-protection is not available for avast home edition 4.5, is it ?

isnt auto-protect what avast calls the background anti-virus program which runs keeping the computer safe? when you say 'Auto-protection' what do you mean? if you mean does it run in the background and protect you real time then it does... that's the majority of the job of any AV.

NOD32 did not used to have a free trial however that might have changed from a month or so ago... look on their website, if one exists you should be able to download it from there.

then tell me what's the use of those sites offering free numbers

if everyone goes legally then those sites will be of no use

These sites can be very useful. I purchased a game a few years ago and have the cd-rom's but lost the serial number. I was able to use one of these sites to retrive a new one. Since I do own the game and bought it for $50.00 and could find the receipt for the purchase then doing this is ok.

But, if I would have downloaded the game on Kazza or some other p2p network and then used a site to get a serial number or crack for it and I didn't pay for the software then it would be illegal. These sites offer serials/cracks and the reason why these sites are still running is because they are not violating the law. What are they really doing to break the law? Unless I missed something, nothing at all. The peopl that use the sites may be breaking the law.
