What will extraterrestrial intelligence look like?

Why would you assume something shaped like an octopus would have to be a water creature?

Aside from the Advanced E.T. races that are known...and reguardless of what anyone may believe...WE KNOW OF SOME ADVANCED E.T. RACES...in order for any species to develop Technology it must have the physical ability to manipulate materials as well as have the mental abilities to develop a form of communication, mathematics, physics, the scientific method or if such an Entity has a highly developed brain...it must be able to either have a relationship with another race to do the physical things it cannot. Such relationships could be mutually benificial...physically symbiotic...forced slavery...or parasitic.

Contrary to popular belief...Earth Like planets which have greater mass than earth thus greater gravitational effect...will result in lifeforms that are either shorter and stockier if having a mass similar to a Human or less....and if much greater than Human Mass...realively flat and spread out over an area.

Science Fiction has led some to believe that a Humanoid eveolved on a High Gravity...High Mass Planet would be some Tall, Giant Humanoid...in reality High Gravity forces evolutionary development toward the lower center of mass and well distributed over area mass Lifeform.

Low Gravity Planets would allow if present....the evolution of Tall, Thin, Low Mass Humanoids.

An exaple of this process can be seen when one looks at the Blue Whale as well as super tall sea weed forests underwater. Now both could neither grow or live they way they are and do if not for the ocean that allows them buoyancy that relieves them of Earths Gravitic Effect. The Whale if beached will suffocate to death as it's own body weight will crush it's lungs.

Decrease in Gravitic effect shows how Vertical length will increase and an example of this is Wave and Tidal Heights due to Lunar interactions. If the Earth stopped spinning a person would weigh .35% MORE standing at the Equator than at the poles. But because the Earth is spinning the centrifugal force actually causes a person to weigh less than they would at the poles.

Primitive relatively to a human...

Most people consider most things more primitive than humans, and since there are very few metrics by which everything can be measured to be more alike to each other than to humans, the most accurate definition for primitive in its every day use would be "nonhuman" or, if you include the usual connotations of the word "less than human."

It's really not a very useful descriptor because it has a number of very distinct meanings range from "an earlier form" to "simple" to "unsophisticated" to "emotional" and despite the fact that these things are often little more than loosely connected to each other and quite often not connected at all, primitive is almost always used to mean all of those things but gets applied to anything that meets even one of the criteria.

Outside of some very specific technical meanings, it's just got too much baggage to accurately describe much of anything.

Less evolutionary steps and boundaries crossed how about that one...

1. I think you meant to say fewer evolutionary steps.

2. Why do you assume that the greater number of evolutionary stpes man has passed through compared with our ancestors would lead to a reduciton in aggressiveness?

I can imagine that an intelligent specie would be less biological and more mechanical, otherwise fully robotic. If an alien specie would need to travel to or live on other worlds, it would be more efficient for them adapting to the extreme/hazardous environments rather than altering them (eg. outer space, mars).

There isn't really any such thing as an evolutionary boundary and what could be counted as a step is highly debatable. It's also entirely possible for evolutionary pressure to work against greater intelligence or, even more likely, towards greater simplicity, which would result in "more steps" creating a less sophisticated organism.

Evolution doesn't have a direction and doesn't really mark progress. An organism successfully reproduces or it does not. That's about as far as evolution goes in judging how advanced something is.

One's ancestors aren't inherently "less evolved" than oneself. The closest you're going to get to a decent definition of "more highly evolved" that actually makes sense is "better at reproducing" but, that makes ants more highly evolved than humans

Species of E.T. that are Highly Intelligent would without a doubt be capable of developing anything from Robotic Probes to Androids that are sentient and self aware/self determinate. How can I say this with certainty? Because we Humans have already done it as far as the Probes and we are also very close if not already there in the development of A.I.

Now as far as the possible Biological Forms Intelligent E.T.'s would have...this could be wide ranging but if they were species of E.T. that could achieve Space Travel...they would have to have either developed a form capable of building high tech spacecraft, or be a parasite that could control a host body where the host is not of the capability for such high tech space travel but the parasite could have the mental capabilities but lack the brawn ala...Stargate.

There could also be a symbiotic nature of two or more E.T.species or even a CASTE system where there are a specific species used for every aspect of an E.T. society including Space Travel.

It has been said that some E.T. races employ Bio-Mechanical Suits to visit other planets...ala...Independence Day.

It has also been proposed that due to the realities and dangers of Space Travel...Androids are used to collect data.

The idea of a biological suit seems laughable at first blush but if you think about it biology isn't much more than complex machine and if we manage to get control of biology the same way we control technology biological machines are not that difficult to imagine.

I can see us being cyborgs and who knows what millions of years being cyborgs could evolve us into. Don't take this too literal though, I highley doubt anything like transformers has or ever will exist in the universe. Even though that would be awesome.

  • 2 years later...

This is the only real one on all of YouTube, this is what they look like and how they move, they are always jittery and don't like bright lights, this video did not come from me, unsure who the original uploader was or who the person was that sent the video into the TV station. Another thing you don't see, but if you do see them close up, they also have large brown/hazel rings around the inside of their eyes just like us, you don't normally see that unless enough light shines in their eyes, their eyes are like ours but just a lot bigger, especially their pupil size.
