Romney mocked for comment about jet windows

Phi, isn't it immature to call people she's? Or are you talking about someone else? I am a HE.

So I don't think that it's a good idea for someone who not only gets utterly the wrong hydration number for Calcium sulphate, but can't spot his error even when it's quoted back at him with the mistake highlighted by italicisation.

John, there are nerdy GIRLS out here too.

This didn't sound like you were a HE. Maybe you're the one trying to cause confusion.

That was a quote from an old movie. No one responded, so I thought you all got a good laugh at it. Seriously though, you thought I was a GIRL all this time? I'm a conservative, post subjects only men could possibly be interested in, and definitely don't talk like a girl. Frankly, I'm offended.

This, in fact, is quite offensive to women, thank you.

Can we move on from this sidebar distraction of what should and shouldn't "shock" someone into thinking a woman would or wouldn't act like, and go back on topic?

Okay, the conservative part was a bit insensitive. But the fact is, women are less likely to be conservative than men. I do respect women, you know. I don't turn them into sexual objects, or base my opinions of them based on appearance, like so many men do. I really do think we need to clear up this issue of my gender with phi, I won't say anything like that again. Sorry.(edit: was the -1 really necessary?)

Mitt Romney would throw you out the plane's window if he heard you talking like that! Well, after he took away your birth control pills and demanded you raise every child begat from your promiscuous ways, without government help of course. Maybe you can borrow the money from your parents.

I'm a conservative, post subjects only men could possibly be interested in, and definitely don't talk like a girl.

Are we still thinking suffrage, equal pay for equal work and the right to personal bodily freedoms are liberal stances, really?

You post mostly about chemistry subjects. The fact that girls couldn't possibly be interested in chemistry will come as a shock to hypervalent_iodine.

Pray tell us, from a conservative, openable jet window perspective, how do girls talk? <bats eyelashes innocently>

Fact: more Americans are unemployed now than 4 years ago.

Fact: more Americans were unemployed in February 2009 (12.86 million) than in August 2012 (12.54 million), according to the BLS (seasonally-adjusted numbers http://www.bls.gov/webapps/legacy/cpsatab1.htm )

More importantly, the numbers were rising back then, owing to the economic fiasco that Obama inherited.

I could just as easily make a blanket statement saying that since scientists are more likely to be democrats you only post things that democrats are interested in.

I didn't use the conservative example as the main point, it just implied I have a 60-ish % chance of being a man. It would be ridiculous to assume all conservatives are men. It was not a blanket statement.

No you said you "post subjects only men could possibly be interested in". Since you post mainly in chemistry it would imply women couldn't be interested in chemistry, or perhaps science in general. According to AAUW ~52% of chemistry bachelor degrees were earned by women in 2006. Compare that to the 6% of republicans in science, according to Pew Research Center, and I would say my statement is far and away more accurate than the one you seemed to be making.

Making charcoal? Would the average woman be interested in that? I wasn't referring to all of my posts, but I do occasionally post something 98% of women wouldn't be interested in. Do you seriously think I was implying that women can't be interested in science? Of course your statement is more accurate than the one I "seem" to be making. You got from me posting subjects only men could be interested in to me thinking women can't like science. I was not referring to all of my posts, or even the majority.

I know you respect women, a man as good looking as you would have to...

Seriously? I could go on all day about how tall and blond I am, but that isn't at all relevant. Let's try to keep things relevant, mkay? Now that you know I'm blond, surely everyone must want to hate on me even more, right? Let's see some hate. If anyone here knows a republican on this forum, would you please invite them here? You can't get any good hate going without a few republicans to back me up... Democrats, of course, are also needed. But we have enough.

Holy flying spaghetti monster. If you keep digging, chilld_fluorine, you'll reach the Earth's core and melt.

Can we PLEASE stop with the condescending mysogynistic cr*p and continue ON TOPIC?

It starts to look like you have nothing material to say about the topic. Do you?

I think most of me would boil or carbolyse. Well, if it stops you from using such terrible words, sure, we can get back on topic. Do you want to talk about Romney's windows or abortion? If the latter, please go to the thread hyper seperated from this one.

And chilled_fluorine, just...stop.

Sure. So long as everyone else does too.

8 pages about aircraft windows and not one person has asked the far more obvious question than Romneys;

"Why do they put frosted glass in the toilets?"

Who is going to look in at 35,000 feet?

I can't say that I've ever seen windows in aircraft lavatories.

Instead of starting a new insane political thread I'm going to post this here, I genuinely hope it is bullshit but if true the campaign has hit new low this election cycle...

DVD Claims Obama's Mom Was Porn Star

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXcDj5J39kM

"A scandalous DVD claiming that President Barack Obama's mother posed for pornographic photos and that his real father was a communist poet who indoctrinated young Barack with Marxism is reportedly being mailed to more than a million swing-state voters. The video, a pseudo-documentary produced by right-wing filmmaker Joel Gilbert, is titled "Dreams From My Real Father." According to MailOnline, Gilbert claims that more than a million copies of the salacious-- and fallacious-- video have been mailed to voters in Ohio, Nevada and New Hampshire, with as many as three million additional copies to be mailed in the near future...".* Cenk Uygur and Jayar Jackson break it down.

Does it really matter Moon? The lady is dead! I don't condone this type of political BS any more than some of the junk I read and see from the left.

We've gotten to be such a bunch of nuts in this country. People will believe anything that supports their biases. I keep hearing Republicans either defending Mitt's airplane windows comment, or they say too much is being made of it (the same people who are still claiming Obama isn't a US citizen, he's a communist, he's a socialist, he's a Muslim and now his mom was a porn star).

Another funny thing is how the whole message approval rules are working just like the new rules with pharmaceutical ads. Instead of making people leery of taking new drugs that may cause anal leakage, thoughts of suicide and blindness, the test disclaimers are actually selling more drugs, and similarly, when some of these third-party sponsored ads come out without the candidate's endorsement, it seems to be making many people just that much more sure they're true.

What is making us so stupid?

Yes, it really does matter.

Telling offensive lies to smear your opponent is an extraordinarily shitty way to behave, even by the standards of politics.

"The lady is dead!"

Other groups that are unable to defend themselves include the very young, the very old and those with learning difficulties.

Are they fair game too?

Exactly what junk do you mean by "the junk I read and see from the left."?

Is the left distributing porn as a political comment or what?

What have the left been doing that is in some way comparable to this?

If their antics are not comparable then "I don't condone this type of political BS any more than ..." is a pretty weak statement.

It's not a matter of not condoning it.

It's a matter of condemning it absolutely and without question.

Effective birth control? Two/three generations of a true monogamous mating system rather than the effective mild polygny resulting from traditional monogamy-with-infidelity style reproduction. Got to have an effect eventually.
