ecoli Posted August 26, 2012 Share Posted August 26, 2012 It's unfortunate that blacks are underrepresented in STEM fields, in general. This likely has more to do with long term socio-economic conditions than overt racism, however. For example, its not like the Nobel committee is biased towards Jews, its just that there skewed representation due to many factors, education in particular. Interestingly, it was only 2 years ago that the first person from a developing country ever won. The thing is only awarded every four years. It's a lot like the President of the US...
