4th Generation iPOD battery

Hello,

I have an Apple iPOD fourth generation bought new 10 or so years ago that plays music fine if it is plugged into the charger while playing and the new battery from DigiExpress in Pa. does fully charge up the battery. It's only good the for about one day. (After charging up ,iPOD is turned off and not used till next day.) DigiExpress says that being this is the 2nd battery I have sent for, if it still will only hold a charge for only one day,the trouble probably is in the electronics of my iPOD and NOT the battery. (I use the ipod for only 4 or 5 hrs.during the day charging goes on)

What do you think and have any others had similar experiences with old music players such as the ipod ?

Can't specifically address your issue, but iPod 4th gen was first sold in 2004; if yours is truly 10+ years old it's the original iPod. Are you sure you have the right replacement part?

This could be many things if its the wrong replacement part it could be a battery of lower capacity than the original. it could have properties different to what the battery manager expects which causes premature termination of charging hell it could just be a cheap knockoff too.

on the other hand, if it is the right part and genuine and all that, there are still some things that could cause these issues. such as it being a second hand battery thats seen heavy use. this may have reduced the capacity. also if it has been stored in improper conditions this could reduce capacity (this is even likely as manufacture was probably stopped some time ago).

when my last music player's battery died i just got a new one as it was so old and replacement would have cost more than a new one. you can pick up a decent player for £30 these days. not ipod but those seem to be over priced for what they are anyways.
