Uk Papers Trash Bush

Of course the UK media is biased - but not in a unified "let's all deride Bush" kind of way. Many of the papers here have their own political leanings, and of course they will pander to the majority opinion of their audience because as we know it's all about sales volume and not random allegiances.

The BBC is not beholden to anyone in the way that the rest of the media is, and is not technically a profit-making organisation. They have had a good record for providing impartial journalism for decades. I personally have seen articles on the web site before that swayed one way or the other on political issues, but invariably these represent the opinions of the author rather than any political stance being made by the BBC.

I think some of the problem here is that when we see papers like that we automatically assert that they are the equivalent of our New York Times, instead of our The Daily Star (supermarket crap no one reads). It's hard for us to put the papers in context as far as national reputation.

Say what you like about the Brits, but they sure have a sense of humor. CBS News showed a bit of Tony Blair addressing that government body (House of Commons?) with the rectangular room, where the speaker stands at a table in the center of the room. He was reading off a piece of paper, and said something like "we congradulate president.... Karzai of Afghanistan", and the room erupted into laughter. :)
