Note: I don't mean ending as the result of a catastrophe. It seems, to me, that this wouldn't happen. Humans are just so advanced in all fields that I can't see it happening. Also, if you feel like answering more; do you think there will be any major evolution's in the Human race? It seems as if we have it all... If humans for some inexplicable reason come to loose their intelligence, they will go extinct rather quickly. IMHO only medicine can save us, colonizing other planets has only the meaning to escape the planet we are currently destroying. In short, my answer to the OP is yes. kitkat Posted December 9, 2011 Share Posted December 9, 2011 Extinction of Homo Sapiens is inevitable but we do have the intellectual capabilities to extend our extinction date but as it is realistically, it also requires us to act responsible in addition to intellect and that is where humans appear to be lacking. Free will has consequences with those choices we make and I feel sorry for the last generation that is facing extinction of the human race that fully realizes that we could have prevented or prolonged it a long time ago but we chose not to. With the technological advancement of the past century or two I believe we have a good chance of surviving. Whether it is colonizing other planets or living on an ever growing space ship, all things can be possible. If we don't expand (colonize outside the earth) we die, the earth is finite in every way as are any other planets we might find that we could live on but planets are not necessary and probably the worst choice. What event or events do you see causing our extinction in that time...our population is quite viral all over the planet even now so it would have to take something all-encompassing globally to completely wipe out that many people imo. If you are seriously interested in this subject, I suggest you take a look at "The Last Civilization." In it, I make the point that the long term survival of human civilization depends upon our eventual expansion out and colonizing of space. When and if we do manage that, there is no end to human destiny. If not, we are heading for the same over-crowding crisis that characterizes all life if it cannot expand its territory. The result would be the end of civilization and a much smaller world population hand tilling the soil and restricted, probably, only to parts of it not contaminated by nuclear war radiation.
