whusean 0 Posted November 29, 2011 Can someone help me out with this. Im trying to convert the follwing buffer...4 X Tris, to be expressed as a molarity. This is all the information i have, and is this possible?
CharonY 2379 Posted November 30, 2011 (edited) Unfortunately, no. You will need to know what the concentration of the 4x Tris is. That is why using the x-notation is useful in lab (e.g. if you always have the same concentration for the stock and then just dilute it down to 1x), however it is worthless for documentation since it could be anything. whusean 0 Posted November 30, 2011 That is what i thought thanks. I am diluting this buffer so would it be ok to express the conc as X follwing the dilution. E.g. 2.5 X Tris. This would be included in my final year project, and i have been told expressing conc as X is not generally liked.
CharonY 2379 Posted November 30, 2011 I would try to hunt down the original recipe.
