"The first 'mission' I played on the game introduced me to two of the lead characters old gang members. One had become a crack dealer and one called 'Bear' had become an emancipated crack addict who was the subservient slave of the crack dealer. I thought that was a very strong message about choices, the scene was more dramatic than I'd expect from a"

Exactly my point. The game also depicts the crooked cop blackmailing the main character and many times your friends die.

Sure, GTA has always been a naughty game, and is intended for mature players. I feel I can handle it, as well as my sister.

Here in the adult world where the things we say and do have consequences for other people, we call that "hand waving" and wish people wouldn't do it.

Oh, deary me. So sorry, Sir. I didn't mean to offend an adult . May I wash my Elders feet? Please, don't tell Papa ! I beg of you sir! :P

You aren't being accused of "offending an adult", but of presenting a very juvenile argument that doesn't appropriately address the issues being raised.

If you wish to respond with sarcasm, at least make it funny.

Well, since GTA has an age limit on it preventing minors from using the game, then the whole issue of the 'poor kiddies' doesn't cut any ice. It's the same as discussing hardcore porn, it's got an age limit to prevent the kiddies watching it.

As I pointed out earlier:

Unaccompanied children, ages 13 to 16, were able to buy "M" rated video games 85% of the time (FTC, 2000)

An age limit does not really prevent anything. The ratings level is a nice thought however it doesn't work :)

Parents should be responsible but it's hard for them to monitor everything there children plays or watches, games like this should be mandatory you provide identification that shows you are over age 17 or 18 to rent or buy.

And as much as the parents may try, most kids these days do not respect their parents or elders. As you can see:

Agreed, the age limit should be enforced. In the UK they used to send kids into shops with a policeman outside, the kid would ask for cigarettes and if served the police would fine the shopkeeper. It only took half a day to do a decent sized city, and it sure stopped underaged sales. I suspect a similar plan is underway for the games industry.

not only is it violent, but it has some other mature content.

it also shows police officers as homosexuals. i went into the police station and found a purple, double-sided dildo in the shower. you can use it as a weapon. i even found out that you can give it to your girlfriend.

you can also bet on horse races.

i find it to be a fun game. if you have a problem with it, don't buy it.

Look, I've been playing it a week and I personally have not felt any ill effects. If anything I find the game elucidating and informative, a superb tension release and jolly good fun.

Now back you punk bitch ass off, before I smoke your fool ass mutherfu%*er. You'd better show me some damned respect, baller, or you ain't gonna see the sunrise. I'm gangsta.

settle down, don't insult me. Geez, OI respect my parents more than anything in the world. You don't know me, so don't say something assuming I am some brat. Don't make it personal.

i played it just now (at a friends house) didnt think it was tooo bad!

a lot more real life aspects such as excercise and stuff.

glitch in the game: if you are doing police missions (vigilance missions or wtvr they are called) start it off, find out where the guy was seen (that popup messagey thing) then go to a pizza store buy the cheapest meal, eat it, go back outside, get back into your police vechile..... ta da, level 1 complete.

keep doing this... easy but boring! maybe just do it for the higher levels! (actaully at higher levels sometimes you have to repeat the going in/out and buying/eating pizza twice... also it doesnt have to be a pizza place, any food place (apparently).

trust me it does work... i just saw it dont 15 times in a row (until we got really really really bored).

apart from that... if you ever want to jack a car (this is obviously in real life!) then make sure you punch the guy and not only pull him out... also drive away quickly incase he tries to get his car back - (i am being dead serious)

^jokes^

:D

otherwise seems like an ok game... although recently ive been far more into halo style games than GTA ones.

That's what came to my mind too. :P Damn those cartoons/games... They give the wrong impression of nice policemen. And a double-sided dildo?! What were they thinking? I mean, sheesh! Don't they know that policemen prefer one-sided vibrating ones?

...

For scratching their backs, I mean.
