As with Anything that increases understanding, and opens up the dynamics of new technologies, the mapping of human structure will undoubtedly be insightful. We will likely take many decades to see dramatic results, but I don't see how the result could "Not" be productive.

The Human Genome project is extremly important to all of mankind, the uses of its understanding are remarkable. Once we full can grasp what the parts of Human (and other lifeforms) DNA, we can develop new ways to extend life, cure the gene for balding, improve skin quality, we can even start playing with our own genes through gene theropy, or completely change our characteristics entirely, the possiblities of its useless are endless.

i agree with what is (currently) the overwhelming majority in saying that i think that it will be good, useful and hopefully benefit the human race.

(i agree with this:)

Knowing the genetic code of humans is the first step to understanding genetic diseases, and curing them.
