How do you solve equations like this??

-0.5lnx= x^2

the only way i cant think of is expanding lnx as a series and get an approximate answer, but that is as good as it gets. Can anyone help me please??

I'm no expert in these matters, but I'm next to positive you'll be needing the Lambert W Function.

$- 1/2 ln(x) = x^2$

$ln(x) = - 2 x^2$

You need to use Lambert W Function, as Shadow said .. regarding your equation have complex roots,
