While the value per carat is variable depending on the specifics, diamonds are indeed sold by weight, and the price (for gem-quality diamonds, at least) is not linear (e.g. a 2 carat diamond is not simply twice the price of a 1 carat diamond) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
