But why are acid so reactive( or dangerous)? Is it because the intermolecular forces between the atoms of the acid are weak? Mr Skeptic Posted April 26, 2010 Share Posted April 26, 2010 It's actually the hydronium that is so reactive, as an oxidizing agent. A few (Lewis) acids don't generate H+, but the acids themselves are still powerful oxidizing agents. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
