Dooms day all life on earth if this happen

There was show that was saying with out the moon or with out the earth that rotates all life on earth is gone.

What causes the earth to rotate.

Billions of years ago, the formation of the earth from dust and gas coming together caused it to spin.Than large rock hit the earth making it spin quite fast. This also formed our moon.

There is a very slight wandering of the rotation poles. It is due to tugs from other bodies in the solar system, continental drift, and earthquakes.

Also the moon.

What factor does moon have on earth and if the moon was gone what will happen?

moon exerts a very strong gravitational pull on the earth. Although it has several effects the strongest implication of what would happen if earth had no moon would be on the tidal waves of the ocean (which would disappear) and the weather patterns, which strongly correlate to the tides.

But the implications are greater than that...because the moon also affected tides of magma in the earths creation, the earth would not exist as it does now without it.

moonlight and how bright the sky would be if there was no moon

the earth's rotation slowing down

animal behaviour

climate change

the spin of the earth and its affect on winds

All life on earth will be gone.

So is it true the moon is moving away from the earth and the earth is slowing down when it comes to rotate ? Is the 24 hour clock going be 27 hours or more? DO to the earth is slowing down when it comes to rotate ?

It was a show like the show called life after people.I do not really understand the science.

One show was on running out of oil, other the population of world 14 billion ,sun burns out ,the moon moving away ,earth is slowing down when it comes to rotate , asteroid hits earth ,earth magnetic field , earth axes and poles so on.

So is going happen soon or much later on?All life on earth gone? What is the point of like if in 50 years all like on earth is gone do to moon is moving away from the earth or the spin of the earth is slowing down.

WHY WILL the show not say when this is going to happen. Can it be stoped some how.

The rate of the Earth's slowing is 2 milliseconds per century. IOW, it would take 50,000 yrs before the day lengthens by 1 sec, and 540,000,000 years before the day reaches 27 hrs in length. This would be a little shorter than the time between now and when the first fish evolved. There is no doubt that life could adapt fast enough to adjust to this change.

Me too I believe that despite the moon receeding from us and earth slowing.

however the catastrophic problem will be when the sun dies off. otherwise, we can still learn how to deal with the rest as long as we have energy.

Earth will become a lump of molten rock due to the massive expansion of the sun that will occur well before the sun burns out.

The Sun will go through a metamorphosis of sorts before it burns out. It will become a red giant at the end of its life. Once it has nearly depleted it hydrogen and begins burning the helium byproduct that it has been storing for billions of years, it will expand to nearly 256 times its current radius. That expansion should take about five million years to complete. By the time it is finished with its expansion, the Sun's equator will outside the orbit of Mars. Not to worry though, by the time it reaches those proportions, the Earth will have been scorched and on the verge of becoming molten again."

Earth will become completely destroyed by the massive expansion of the sun that will occur well before the sun burns out.

@toastywombel

Thanx, that's what I wanted to say. still to mean that it is the event on which we are powerless since we will be 'engulfed' in the massive expansion of the sun.

Do you honestly think human beings will be around 5 billion years from now?

Humans have only existed for about 150K years. I would venture to guess that in a million years, humans will be extinct.

Will we be replaced by another species of human? Who knows.

Also, due to the evolution of the Sun, in about one billion years from now, the Earth will resemble Venus.

Honestly, why not?!

.

Can you explain on which basis do you make such a guess?

Exactly! we are still in evolution.Humans are still undergoing some slow transformations which may result into something different from what we call 'human' today but still called "another species of HUMAN"

We are in the midst of a mass extinction caused by the population explosion of homo sapiens and the development of civilization, which is expanding and changing at an accelerating rate. Trying to predict the state of the human race 1000 years from now is pointless, let alone a million, let alone five billion. The only thing you can really say with reasonable certainty about such unfathomable timescales is that nothing will be recognizable.

as carbon based organisms, we are evolving. we are currently homo sapiens, in the future(if we haven't been killed off by some other event) we will have to change the sapiens part. going even further down the line we will have to drop the homo part as well.

humans as we exist now maybe only have another 100k years before we aren't human any more. hell in 5 billion years we probably won't even be humanoid.

That's assuming we don't interfere with the process. We might accelerate it, slow it down, or even take a hard left.

That's the worst part of death, imo, never getting to see what happens to us. :-(

By the time we need to escape the expansion of the sun do you not think we would have already colonised other bodies in the solar system? It seems far more likely than actually moving an entire planet from it's regular orbit.

Moving the Earth is quite possible and it would be important to do so if we wanted to save the Earths entire ecosystem and not just bits and pieces of it as in colonies.

The point is the move would be very slow and takes lots of time but then again the expansion of the sun would be slow as well.
