no no no, I`m fairly sure it`s closer to something like:

Movement

Respiration

Sensitivity

Nutrients (requiring)

Excretion

Reproduction

and Growth

as you can see it clearly has 7 elements :)

Cognition is difficult in single celled life like algae, dontcha think?

only if limiting the term to humanity.

like Maturana said, a baterium while does not have cognition as you and i know it, but it can sense if there's acid nearby and swim away from or food and swim to, etc.

basically, the idea is to think outside the box.

here's a brief excerpt

And plants bend towards light, but that's due to the action of photophobic growth hormones being more active on the shaded side of the stem. To use the term 'cognition' to explain the heliotropic properties of a plant would be inappropriate. There is a difference between 'sensitivity' to something and 'sensing' it.

Thats more of a philosophical way of thinking. Fair enough the opposite of death is life but you have to be able to define life before hand to understand what death isn't.

Actually i thought death was easier to define than life....as for the philosophical version death is heaven/hell....etc

I see death as the cease of all response from an organism or the loss of the MRSGREN points YT had

gonna go get a dictionary
