Dede's condition is apparently caused by a form of Epidermodysplasia verruciformis, a genetic mutation which causes increased susceptibility to Human papillomaviruses. IOW, the symptoms themselves (massive "bark-like" growths) are not caused by the mutation but by a viral infection. SkepticLance Posted January 6, 2009 Share Posted January 6, 2009 As I have said before, it is probable that evolution by natural selection, while still going on, will become less important over the next few centuries, since we are gaining the power to modify ourselves genetically. I think the debade part you hear on the news about evolution is people who have problems go to hospital or see a doctor. And believe the body is starting to reject drugs like the flu virus.After time the virus , bacteria or parasite find way around the drug.And believe medicine in 21 century is doing more harm than good for the body.By the immune system too depended on drugs and technology to live.
