Quick note about links to threads/posts

When posting a link to a thread in another thread on the site, do not paste the URL. Instead, use the xxxx[/i]] tag.

 

For example, to link to this thread you would do this:

A link to this thread

Resulting in:

A link to this thread

 

Alternatively, if you want the link text to be the same as the thread URL, simply do this:

[thread]37063

Resulting in:

[thread]37063[/thread]

 

The reason for this is that when the site is reorganised or moved, any small change to the directory structure can break absolute URLs. This has happened a few times in SFN's history and as a result the site is littered with broken links to our own content!

 

 

If you want to link to a specific post, for the same reasons as above you should use the xxxx[/i]] tag.

 

For example:

Resulting in:

Sayo's post #1

It certainly belongs in a stickied collection of useful tags.

Much like the [noparse][/noparse] tags, which keep BBCode from being parsed inside them and allow you to make BBCode examples.

I'm going to sticky this now because I've just read it and still lost it a minute later.

 

Can an Admin move this down the sticky list so Introduce Yourself is still at the top? I don't think I can do that.
