I know it is the solvent I require for the reaction conditions in my answer and I know it's pKa value is higher than 25. However, it would be nice to know exactly what the pKa is. big314mp Posted August 26, 2008 Share Posted August 26, 2008 Well, based on what we've done in Ochem so far, THF and other ethers are not deprotonated by organometallic bases such as grignard reagents. This would suggest a pKa somewhere north of 50. Of course, in that range, it doesn't even really matter. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
