Botany: berries, what makes it so?

Random thought I had today, when I purchased a pack of berry gummies; grape wasnt in there!

Why not? Isnt it essentially the same thing as any other berry - but I dont believe its considered one.

What Mr. Skeptic was saying, though less helpfully, is that there is a distinction between the common use of the word "berry" and the actual botanical definition. All the fruits Mr. Skeptic listed were botanical berries. Strawberries, raspberries, and so forth are berries in the familiar diction (there is some overlap).

Are you under the impression that Gummi Berries have some botanical reason for including or not including something?

Oh yes of course. I expect large manufacturers to be botanically correct when marketing a product [/sarcasm]

I was just wondering because I was hoping for some Grapes in there. lol.

But when I didnt see any I wondered whether or not it was considered a berry.
