what is the formula Vf^2 = V0^2 + 2ax used for?

Do you know what the terms in the equation mean?

not really....

This is homework help forum, so what is the problem in question?

looks to me as if it's one of kinematic equations, used for calculating final velocities when initial, acceleration and distance traveled are known.

I could have sworn it had more than two terms

edit: Nope, that's right.

${v_f}^2={v_0}^2+2a{\Delta}x$

Do you mean

$V_f^2 = V_0^2 + 2ax$

Looks like a kinematics equation for calculating the final velocity given initial velocity, acceleration, and distance traveled.

ignore
