That is the hypothesis of the author of the above article. His contention is that a consumption of soy products containing phytoestrogen will result in homosexual tendencies.

So, who agrees with this awesome hypothesis? I say flawless logic!

Well, there is a (understudied) link from soy products to estrogen, but they aren't conclusive enough to make me want to change my soy-eating ways.

As for links to homosexuality, that's just ridiculous. Maybe its a correlative thing that homosexuals eat more soy? Higher rate vegetarianism and soy consumption?

This popped up on the LJ scientists community, and someone with more endocrinology background basically ripped it to shreds. Basically, studies of the effect of soy on hormone balances and development have been done, and all of them found jack shit.

Yes, if you are eating "the pill".

Otherwise the body's feedback mechanisms make sure that the effects are tiny, certainly less than the natural variation in hormone levels from one person to the next.

Anyway, the idea that eostrogens make you gay is utter balderdash. Don't forget that all of us, while in utero, were exposed to female hormone levels nearly as high as our pregnant mothers. If that exposure led to homosexuallity then there simply wouldn't be any straight men.
