Why is it necessary to take worthless liberal arts courses to obtain my A.S.?

You're paying your university for a degree in science, so you should only have to take classes pertinent to it.
This statement is your problem. Anyone seeing that you have a BSc or A.S. is going to assume it includes some Liberal Arts like everyone else's BSc or A.S. You're paying your university for a degree that is recognized by various industries for various things. You aren't paying them for a degree you get to tailor that no one else understands.

Hello

Though you may work in a scientific field that work, and your life in general, is not conducted in a vacumn. The vast majority of science is carried out not so much because it is what would be the best for science. But because it is what someone is willing to pay to be conducted.

This is related to political, social, and economic influences, and for you to operate effectively in this enviorment you should learn through your education in Liberal Arts (History, Literature, Sociology...) to better understand and gauge how these forces will effect your career in science.

Mr D.
