Megatron
I'm building a coilgun, I intend to create a portable version after this one. I have 4 350VDC 400v surge 4200uf and 8 350WVDC, 400V surge, 3600 uF caps. There are 3 series banks, 1 for each coil. What kind of charger should i use, mains powered? [Tycho?]
This should probably go in the engineering forum.
Lance
I would go with a mains powered voltage doubler if you live in the US.
CPL.Luke
may I inquire as to why you want a "portable" one?
Megatron
may I inquire as to why you want a "portable" one? Well, I wouldn't want to lug a bench coilgun around all the time, it's a waste of time and energy. Besides, portable coilguns are cooler. But, I'm not building it right now. I'm building a bench version now. Lance, a voltage doubler just uses a 1:2 ratio xfrmr, right? I can wind my own.
