Lignocellulosic biomass (wood) through microorganisms

Recommended Posts

Some fungi and bacteria are capable of producing lignocellulosic biomass (like photosynthetic bacteria can produce sugars) just like plants, and I want to ask, if you know/think it is/might be possible to use them to generate large amounts of the product? To skip the growing of actual plants part.
