I only get rude after a poster has demonstrated beyond any shadow of a doubt that he's a troll, and at that point it's the responsibility of moderators to ban the troll. As for reflecting on my methods, I've been perfecting them for twenty years now, and they're very effective at shutting down trolls as long as the forum doesn't support the trolls.

Arguing isn’t against the rules, and violating the rules is what leads to banning. (going off-topic, though, is against the rules)

Moderator Note

You need to report the offending posts so they can be evaluated, and it’s not the job of members to “shut down” trolls. Participation is voluntary; you should choose to simply not feed the alleged troll.
