Hair Color Genetics

Is it possible for a mating between a person with black hair and a person with blonde hair to create offspring with blonde hair? I know hair color inheritance is influence by multiple genes, but how exactly does it work? Is it dominance/ressesive inheritance or additive?

I believe that hair color, like skin color and height, is a polygene. One allele is recessive and colorless and the other allele is dominant and codes for a dark pigment. You have multiple versions of the gene and the more dominant versions of the gene that you have the darker your hair. Then answer to your question is yes. If you had for example these genotypes for your parents: HH Hh HH Hh X Hh hh hh hh. You could end up with blond hair if your genotype was Hh Hh hh hh. I think. The real question is what color was the mailman's hair?
