DARK0717 Posted April 16, 2019 Share Posted April 16, 2019 In magnetic induction, how do I affect materials in between two coils or two metals inducing electric current? Lets say, two coils and there is plastic in between them, I want to melt the plastic by using magnetic induction (obviously, I want to induce heat). What are the WAYS to achieve such thing? Enthalpy Posted April 18, 2019 Share Posted April 18, 2019 Some plastics can be welded by capacitive heating, not by inductive heating. It's known but uncommon because the process applies only to lossy plastics like PVC, not no PE, PP, PS, PETP and so on. An advantage is that the parts get hot at depth quickly.
