Insects decline threatens ‘catastrophic collapse of nature’s ecosystems’

Pesticides, pollution and climate change are all wiping out insects at an alarming rate – so much, that a new global review says they could vanish within a century, threatening a “catastrophic collapse of nature’s ecosystems”.

The scientists are calling for an urgent overhaul of the agricultural industry, warning that “unless we change our ways of producing food, insects as a whole will go down the path of extinction in a few decades”.https://www.channel4.com/news/insects-decline-threatens-catastrophic-collapse-of-natures-ecosystems

The rate of insect extinction is eight times faster than that of mammals, birds and reptiles.https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/feb/10/plummeting-insect-numbers-threaten-collapse-of-nature

Extinction of insects will cause extinction of birds, reptiles and amphibians as well, as they are serious source of food of higher level animals.

Without flying insects many plants will extinct as well unable to exchange their pollen and reproduce.

Agricultural skyscrapers can be designed in such a way, that they will work without any pesticides. Hermetic single floor. Much easier for selective decontamination.

And what about those chemicals which are used to fight such insects as fleas, termites, bed bugs etc? They are so poisonous and also bring a lot of troubles to other insects which don't bring any harm to people. There is a lot of options to fight them without chemicals. And if we use toxins to kill pests then the whole ecosystem is in danger.

If we grew food in large green house towers. We could grow the plants in a high CO2 atmosphere.

I don't think pests would be able to survive. We would need robots to tend to the plants.
