Twitter has a science misinformation problem

Please see the above thread.

By many accounts, science misinformation is firmly entrenched on twitter, which is where I, personally, get much of my science news. The odd part is that some of these lies seem more lazy than malicious. Why pretend that kinesin is endorphin... this will not gain you any social or political advantage. It's not clear that it will even result in more retweets.

That is pretty much the same in any unmoderated (and some moderated) environments, isn't it? Some of them driven by the need of recognition/clicks, many others just by ignorance. Trying to get science info from such sources without sufficient expertise in the field of interest is kind of useless.
