Figuring out an unknown solution?

So, basically I am extremely confused by some of my chemistry homework. The question is: "hypothetically, you have an unknown solution that contains either dissolved NaCl or dissolved NaNO3. You add AgNO3 to the unknown solution and observe that a precipitate forms. Identify the unknown solution and explain your choice (use the solubility rules)." I'm confused because wouldn't both NaCl + AgNO3 and NaNO3 + AgNO3 create a precipitate? Couldn't the unknown solution technically be both options? I'm so confused.
