Erina
I don't suppose it is, but as the title suggests, can the human guts acid safely dissolve spider's silk if digested? I like to eat berries from the trees, when in season, and sometimes there may be some spider's silk in the general area. I know that it can withstand a lot of direct force/pressure for it's thickness, but how well does it fair when in stomach acid? Thanks!
StringJunky
The acid will take take care of bugs on it and the protein enzymes will decompose the silk. Quote Spider silk is a natural polypeptide, polymeric protein and is in the scleroprotein group which also encompasses collagen (in ligaments) and keratin (nails and hair). http://www.chm.bris.ac.uk/motm/spider/page3.htm
Janus
And even if it weren't digested, it would just pass through your digestive system and be eliminated as waste.
