Arman singh Posted June 28, 2018 Share Posted June 28, 2018 I have HCl as a byproduct from fridel craft acylation,,but having the impurity like Trichloacetylene as solvent and isobutyl benzene or acetylchloride,,,i want to purify it. John Cuthber Posted June 29, 2018 Share Posted June 29, 2018 I'm assuming that you have the gas rather than a solution in water. Saying "HCl" is ambiguous. If you have tons of it then you must do something with it- you can't just vent it to the atmosphere. Dissolving it in water to make hydrochloric acid- which can be sold- is probably the easiest way to deal with it. But you need to get proper advice from a chemical engineer.
