Wordsy puzzle

Recommended Posts

Ok I can only remeber the answer to this one but the question will have all the improtant parts in it. Also the original rhymed so i'll have to imbelish it a bit there also :embarass:

At the begining of the night, four men sit down to play.

And into the wee hours they will stay,

But when it comes time to count the cash,

All the players, have increased their stash*

Question is 'How did they all gain money from playing?' Trust me all the info you need is right there. Have fun.

* (Stash means money can you think of a word for money that rhymes with cash?)

It is an activity where the stash is not finite.

So logically the stash is being generated from a point outside the four players mentioned.

Hmmmm.

What sort of nocturnal activity draws money form an external source.

Blackjack.

Roulette.

Maybe they are paid musicians… (I’m playing on the word play)…

Perhaps you could say…. a fishing line is played out?

or perhaps a line form the old Bill?

All the world's a stage,

And all the men and women merely players:

They have their exits and their entrances;

And one man in his time plays many parts,

His acts being seven ages. At first the infant,

Mewling and puking in the nurse's arms.

And then the whining school-boy, with his satchel

And shining morning face, creeping like snail

Unwillingly to school. And then the lover,

Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad

Made to his mistress' eyebrow. Then a soldier,

Full of strange oaths and bearded like the pard,

Jealous in honour, sudden and quick in quarrel,

Seeking the bubble reputation

Even in the cannon's mouth.

Only the players gained money, not all 4 people were playing when they finished. Presumably one of the players ran out of money and ceased to play.

you are very close.

the moon

the phase of the moon will never be more than 5 weeks old before it turns to a new moon and starts over again

(actually the answer assumes some astronomical stuff that might not be strictly true but we take for granted, like the lunar month is 29 earth rotations or something----true on a very very long timescale even if not forever)

Aaww c'mon, a professional string Quartet is way funnier...

any hoe....the reducing players answer, would be a "grammersey" puzzle not a wordsey puzzle.

It would rely on the shifting definition of the word

‘players”

You are a little confused here. It would not rely on shifting the definition of the word. It would rely on shifting your personal interpretation of the word. However, I agree that your solution makes more sense. :P
