  1. This is true, but it is worth noting that marnix, although a complete neophyte on this forum, is active on other science forums, making valuable contributions to discussion. Therefore, the impression Marnix has formed is well worth taking into account and I'm pleased Phi for All has done so.
  2. I can't imagine a forum account being particularly high on your list of priorities either.

I Did have problem with the "my account" pull down window, it would open up top left to bottom right Very slowly (nearly 2 seconds), but now it`s all perfect again, and I`m left with only the PM window and all the icons taking best part of minute to load, and the back button doesn`t really work unless I click it twice. but unless someone else is having the same thing happen, I can`t rule out that it`s not something My end. it seems to have good days and bad days, and most of the probs are related to the DNS as it mostly "hangs" on looking for scienceforums.net or words to that effect.
  4. The clock isn't GMT, its GMT-1 at the moment. I'm guessing it hasn't taken into account daylight saving hours, we're currently on the summer stint so an hour ahead of normal.
  5. The Today's Posts search has been screwing up a lot today. Using IE7, click "My Account" then "Today's Posts"... It keeps presenting me with a "You must wait 5 seconds between searches" error, even though I'd been viewing the page I was on for a few minutes before searching. Then, just now, it gave me a "Sorry - No matching results" message when pressing "Today's Posts." http://www.scienceforums.net/forum/search.php?do=getdaily It doesn't do it every time, but it's happened multiple times to me today, and a few times yesterday.

  7. I happen to agree. As even that which is labelled as "objective" must first pass through one's own "subjective" filters. Quit posting off topic. Cap'n... I'd like to be able to ban people for 24 hours for being stupid. Can we set something like that up on my account? Just don't let others use it, or I'd be banned in perpetuity myself.

  9. We can gladly remove your information. However, deleting your account would result in your posts vanishing and create continuity problems in threads. vBulletin doesn't even provide for deleting users as far as I know. If you would like us to remove specific information we can gladly oblige.
  10. Well that stinks and doesn't make much sense. Can you show me your terms of service that show that my information is now your property? I am just asking that my account be deleted, I haven't even really posted here that would be worth your time to look back at. Please ban me then. Trust me, I won't be back.
  11. You have to take into account that we only archived the reasonable threads. All the **** that made us close the forum in the first place is sealed in a concrete bunker two miles beneath the surface of the planet.

I wrote a simple one of these for phpBB once but I did not account for the abuse factor and that complicated things to no end, I had to put in features like rate only for this post if you have posted in the thread and then only allow you to rate once - the implimentations get quite complex when dealing with abuse to the system as any mod writer will attest too. The basic system should not be to hard to impliment but the actual anti-absuse stuff is normally the killer... Cheers, Ryan Jones
  15. I agree with Cap'n Refsmmat, and he is talking about people with 5 or less posts... won't be a lost at all, and if he (the person) want to post in the future, then he might create another account... but well.. as in bussiness, the boss commands.
  16. They still made the effort to register the account in the first place. And I still don't see the point of it all anyway.
  17. I think that there's always a possibility that the account will be used in the future at some point. You have to also consider that quite a few of these people will probably never post things but read the forums anyway.
  18. VIP`s not actualy used as far as I know. it was set up and tested with a bogus or clone account, and never used again I could be wrong, but even looking from "Inside" the hidden bits, that seems to be the case, Never really used
  19. My boyfriend (Photovet 97) is over here and wanted to post something, but we weren't able to log out my account. We hit the "Log Out" link at the top of the page and hit "OK" when the dialogue box shows up. It then takes us to a "All Cookies Cleared" page, but when we go back to the main page, I'm still logged in. Any idea what's going on?
