Delete All of My Posts Please!
raphaelh42 replied to Winner568's topic in Suggestions, Comments and Support
I understand it is important to keep replies for the share of the knowledge... I guess replies containing quotes of the deleted posts could hide the writer username... I feel preventing people to get their posts deleted is like google saying : we will not remove your face from google images and your video from youtube, you can just regret now or try to assume... I feel it is cruel even if the user account is considered anonymous -
Delete All of My Posts Please!
Phi for All replied to Winner568's topic in Suggestions, Comments and Support
We don't delete anything. People put work into their posts, no matter how they're received, so at most we move the posts into the Trash. Still here, still readable, but nobody has to waste time responding to concepts that can't pass basic tests and smell like word salad. If you'd like to learn some science, I suggest you stick around and read. -
& I will give you a piece of toast as your reward! =]

Well I misspoke in that thread, I meant that people usually throw that idea around about black politicians Obama was a good example, especially with all of that different conspiracy stuff, a lot of black people I've met said they saw him like that Honestly I've been slandered so much by you people since I joined, every time I post the only responses I get are people going out of their way to insinuate problems with my posts and being manipulative, trying to insult me and generally holding me to a completely different standard than what applies to everyone else Like you ignored the fact that he actually asked me to explain all of that, and as a matter of fact, so did he And you'll probably pretend that he didn't ignore it because it's opportune I don't see a reason to be here but there's no way to even delete my account so 🤷♀️

I don't find them very useful. The last time I used them, I regretted it. I thought about reverting it. Then I saw another member already had. I don't think I'll used them much, except on account of uncivil behaviour.

Excerpt from the article: (April 25th, 2021) Twitter removed tweets that were critical of India's response to the COVID-19 pandemic at the request of the Indian government, the company said Saturday. Twitter censored tweets from a member of parliament, an actor, a former journalist, and West Bengal's minister of labor and law, according to Indian news outlet MediaNama, which first reported the news. Indian law allows the country to censor language it deems defamatory or that it views as possibly inciting violence, The Verge noted. The country in February enacted a new regulation that could allow it to jail employees of social-media companies should they refuse to comply with the government's demands to delete content it considers illegal, Fast Company and the Wall Street Journal reported.

Hello, I just began this account. The moment I created my account with my new password I got a warning from google chrome stating my "password is compromised" and that I need to change it for all sites I use that have the same password. Can anyone explain why this has happened? Is this anything to be seriously concerned about? This is an https site so my information should be private. Thanks, sorry if I am posting in the wrong section I am new to the site.

A reminder that we do not delete accounts. You may choose to leave, and you might be shown the door, but your posts remain. We generally only remove posts from sight when there are rules violations involved.
-
Registering more than one account to yourself is not permitted without administrative approval (from rule 2.9) They got approval Yes, it was banned, and I think it would be a bad idea for people to be able to look through your posts that got you banned, and see that you are active, rather than associating the marginally better posts you’ve made since your return with your current name. So this would not get my vote.

Your old account got banned due to your flipping out at one point over some topic, instead of for persistent rules violations. When you finally approached staff asking for another chance, we decided to wait and see if your style has improved. It's not up to me, an Admin would have to make the changes, but I'm inclined to think you're focusing more on the name and less on why you're being allowed to stay despite opening sockpuppet accounts. Will a name change improve the science in your posts? I think the whole staff is still on the fence wrt to this current account. You still have a tendency towards lazy methodology, but you seem more receptive to mainstream explanations, at least. We all figured you were young when you first joined, and perhaps had a bad patch, so you got a second chance.

Well I did make my first post about wanting to use these forums again after having been banned a year back and the admins seem to have let me keep posting still (which is good news to me, thanks!). If I were able to get my old account back and also change my email address to a new one that would be nice, but I forgot my old email address so I cant prove really it's my old acc other than same IP. But IP can be same if you use same VPN, example I was confused with a spamming account because we were both using the free VPN for opera browser.

Sensei is correct from a dbase perspective, but ignores the process standpoint. You’re operating a sockpuppet account. Sockpuppet accounts are against the rules to which we all agree when creating user profiles here. The ban previously executed against your other profile is in reality a ban which applies more broadly to you as a human being. The ban was to prevent you from further interactions with other human beings here, not solely to that one other username in isolation. Said another way... Technically, you’re still banned. If the staff agrees that your posting privileges should be allowed to persist, then the only logical approach IMO is to ban this current incarnation of you under this most recent user profile and to then as a next step unban the previous profile / version of you and allow posting privileges to recommence under that umbrella.

Unlikely. Such column (user name) in database is the most likely defined as UNIQUE. https://www.mysqltutorial.org/mysql-unique-constraint/ https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/8.0/en/partitioning-limitations-partitioning-keys-unique-keys.html In that case admins would have to login to the MySQL database administration utility, and change user name column in the row of the banned account, then change the current username column to "Achilles". Doable if you have admin privileges and enough knowledge (like SQL database programming skills)..

I 100% agree with you..except the area of disruption.. My field of study is very unique, its not practical in any one sense, so "in a way" it disturbs practical thinking.. It was a quote on "how" a member cannot delete their post even after being banned or just leaving, this forum still keeps their post active.... Yes I've read this, and it "does" mention the forum "will not delete" posts, however it also does not say that upon "re-quests" by the publisher the forum will still not delete a post and keep it public with or without the scrutiny, criticism, comments and etc.. It does however go on to say that within guidelines of laws post "maybe" deleting and or removed, but copyrighted material and even patented material is still run by laws, so I missed something there...😎 Section 5: Disclaimer and Copyright ScienceForums.net staff will not be held liable for any damages, be they indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary that you may incur by using this site or information contained within. How to Deactivate My Account??
swansont replied to CuriosOne's topic in Suggestions, Comments and Support
Easier for whom? You can just not come to this site. Or you can ask us to ban you. Those are your options. That seems pretty easy. The first one requires you to literally do nothing. What won’t happen is that we let people delete accounts, which would remove their posts, and wreak havoc with existing threads. -
Yes. You acknowledged (but obviously didn't read) them when creating your account profile. If you feel someone is breaking the rules, use the report post feature so it can be reviewed by staff. If you disagree with how the staff decide to run things, you're under no obligation to continue posting here. Also, why is this 16 year old thread in the Maths forum??

I cannot see an option in my account settings....

Dear Staff I have exceeded my attachments quota and I have to delete some of the images & videos I have posted. The Forum does have an attachment managing section under "My Attachments" of my Profile but I cannot spot any "Delete" option. Help please. Thank you.

I cannot post any attachment, I have overpassed my attachment quota. How can I delete some of them? Thx

Spammer & personal messages?
Phi for All replied to Ghideon's topic in Suggestions, Comments and Support
If the account was Flagged as Spammer (as opposed to being banned for rules violations), I think everything goes away. It's a 2-click solution for blatant spammers. Hyper would know for sure. -
Are personal messages sent by a spammer left when their posts are removed and the account banned?
