  2. Finally got voice control working for my lights. Feel stupidly happy about the whole thing.

I might look into it. Yeah, one handy thing about having worked in two different trades(carpenter and electrician) is that I'm pretty comfortable with fixing anything around my house that needs fixed, or simply updating it. Rebuilt my entire rotten porch over the summer.

Nice!  Wish I had your skillset. I can do small projects but would love to have the confidence to tackle something bigger.

Yeah, it's quite nice. Honestly, it's the little pieces of knowledge that help the most. Everything else you can look up.

  3. Mental Note: Wear suncreen while kayaking and 'enticing' the local wildlife.

I can see youre from Orlando...I've been to the everglades once years ago. The mosquitoes were a nightmare <-- This is I will keep telling myself while walking from work this afternoon in the dark, wet cold ;)

I put a heavy dose of factor 50 on during high summer (one of the few hot days)for an all day bike ride. Came back looking diseased with flys and midges encrusted onto me and glued on by the sunscreen - It was not pretty

  4. Horray! Have a full sized computer again. Wish I had thought to buy speakers, but at least I'm no longer typing on that teeny tiny phone screen :)

A headphone amp with good earphones or headphones is great as well The Topping NX3 or NX1 are great for not a lot of money

Went with a couple of basic speakers.

Hoping to move to a VR rig once things normalize for them. Can't wait until we can test/compare the different types ourselves :)

I used to work on a full size computer in the 1970's. It took up two large rooms in the basement of an office block :)

Wish a kitten would show up at my front door! There are usually lots of dogs tied up at the beach and I go a bit crazy petting them all and a few weeks ago this German guy looked very annoyed that I was hugging his dog. Must be a cultural thing as usually the owners will be overjoyed to talk about their dog and interact in Sydney!

      TY all.

Happily Momma Kitty returned today for her little one. Possibly still scolding him for getting himself covered in dog slobber.

My last one was 3/4  whole rye and 1/4 white spelt

I put a little oil in the mix and some poppy seeds top and bottom.

Rose quite nicely  and the oil made the crust less dry.

Have made bread every day or so for the past 40 years or so🙂

    3. Endy0816

      Endy0816

      Will have to try :)

    4. geordief

      geordief

Yes ,with rye I think  you have to   add enough strong flour (ie make up for the missing gluten in rye) to get it to rise enough to get you a light loaf

Otherwise ,you could try a very long ,low temperature bake to give you a pure rye but very heavy loaf.

I think caraway seeds might be traditional with rye

I have only just started adding oil to the mix...makes for a different kind of a crust

Have never tried baking bread with baking powder instead of yeast but you could try that too .

How did you and the storm go?

    3. Endy0816

      Endy0816

      @Moontanman

Got through it okay.  Hunkered down in the closet initially until the worst of it went through. Main concerns here are trees coming down and hurricane spawned tornadoes.

Lot of flooding in the area that we're still dealing with, but none right by me.

    4. Moontanman

      Moontanman

yeah those tornados always worry me as well.

      What's 0.35 mm between friends?

Was half seriously debating about rigging something up. Wouldn't have been pretty but whole lot less aggravation.

Figured out autostarting the computer, so at least accomplished something of the overall project. Still felt like a fool trying to fit a too small sized bulb though.

Never been to Minnesota - but I did late December in Chicago and it was seriously bbbrr! New York still feels Autumnal. It is the same here (but to a lesser extent as our climate is always more moderate)- I have worn roughly the same cycling kit every morning since end of August thru to end December - I have washed it in between :)

  20. Woohoo! Echo Auto is out and on its way. Excited with the location based options now available.

Amazon has come out with a ring version but on the fence about the price for that one. Would be both handy and cool though. Could give commands and inquire 24/7 without being obvious.
