  1. I'm sorry, I support space exploration, I just don't think Bush is sincere in his efforts to reach mars. 2010? yeah right. I seriously doubt Bush gives a damn about space exploration. Maybe he thinks we'll find oil on Mars. How does he think we'll get to outerspace if he continues to cut spending on non-military research?

  2. I like Fight Club, Princess Monoke, great movie. If you want some laughs, I suggest some Mel Brooks movies: Robin Hood: Men in Tights, History of the World part 1, Silent Movie, To Be or Not to Be, etc. Also I highly recomend The Princess Bride.

  3. For light to have come out the edge' date=' it basically has to have entered through another edge* so you get total internal reflection. So it travels a large distance through the glass, which is acting like a waveguide. Absorption.

*it's possible a small amount scatters off of some impurity, or some other medium on the surface allows coupling into the glass at some angle.[/quote']

This sounds resonable to me. Light enters at an akward angle causing green light to be reflected off of it. Does this make any sense?

  4. Indeed, what of the moral imperative? Should the unnecessary suffering of millions be allowed to continue because millions of others don't approve whole-heartedly of a process few of them understand to begin with?

Well said Geode. I think a big problem with the majority of people who are against stem-cell research do not understand how it works. Thats partly their own fault, partly the media. The media wants to scare people, so they portray the message that scienctists are taking embryoes and turining them into body parts. Which is obviously not the case.

  5. I think it probably has to do with selective mating. Animals choose the biggest strongest animals to propagate the species. The mammals prefer bigger mate; better to defend young, themselves. Also many mammals fight for mates. The bigger, stronger mammals will win the fight, and the mate.

    Why they became extinct?

I don't think there is only one answer. Humans make sense, but we should also consider that maybe the animals got too big for their bodies. Being big means more food, more body mass, more blood flow. Their bodies simply couldn't support themselves There is not enough food to support the population - fierce competition for food and resources. The result? Dieoffs. The bigger animals die off the smaller ones come in, to take their place. Add that with humans; resoursful animals who can use tools and weapons, and view the bigger animals as an excellent source of food, and you might have an accurate picture of what happened.

  6. Actually humans are the third most intellegent life on this planet. Dolphins are the second and mice are the first. Dolphins found a way off the planet just it was destroyed by the Vogons, something humans couldn't do. Mice actually had the earth, really a giant supercomputer, built to determine the question to the answer of the universe (42)
