I don't know what any of those are, but it sounds pretty impressive!

  5. Bad news, my step mom suffered a home invasion, not only did they beat her up they burned down her house. Onlookers were able to drag her out of the house. To make matters worse my dad died, I'm having problems getting information at this time since my step mom and my dad were my only source of info...

  6. Today I learned: maths is shapes and shapes is math.

    1. Strange

      Strange

A lot of maths can be interpreted in geometric terms (e.g. calculus can be defined purely in terms of operations on functions but is often taught using geometric concepts). And a lot of early mathematics started out as a need to measure land and the Earth (geo-metry).

So it may be truer than you think. (But any further discussion should probably move to the Math forum!)

  8. The news about that black hole thing made me think. Now forgive me, physicists and others, for being such a noob when it comes to astronomy, but I had this idea, which didn't sound too stupid to me, but again, I'm a real layman in astronomy.

I was thinking that the big bang may have been a black hole, being overloaded with everything else the universe held, such that it became unstable, and exploded? Additionally, if I'm right, black holes grow while eating stuff, and may eat each other. What if our whole universe will come to a point in time where there are only two black holes, which have eaten anything else, remaining only for one to eat the other one, leaving only one giant black hole, once again being overloaded, and exploding, like a new big bang?

  14. Man, it is hard to get hold of an administrator here! Anyways, I have ideas for your forum!

To attract new traffic to your site, so that more people want to advertise, you could include a new forum called 'bright sparks' or 'patents by law' or something? If you get the people posting their ideas here, like new products they want to perfect or assemble, but need help, they will all run here! This will be where you will need a simple contract written up by the court, through a lawyer, costing about a hundred dollars, where if it is posted here, it remains your property, and the rights of those posting on it, if you will?

Then, as an aside, you would get more traffic if you had two more forums, humanities, like for psychology and culture, and language and teaching and stuff, and, one for finance, hey?

Thanks for reading this, sorry, you seem to be the only one around at any given time...

There is a thread specifically for suggestions like this:

Generally, the reason there isn't a section for X is because not enough people are interested in X, or the same thing can be discussed somewhere else on the forum.

In the case of your "inventions" suggestion, anyone posting their ideas on a public forum would invalidate their chances of patenting it (in most countries) and so it would be a really stupid thing to do.

  16. I want to "upgrade" my waking-up experience. Ideally, I'd love to have an alarm clock which I can plug into my computer and transfer custom alarm sounds to (which don't give me a heart attack), and which has two speakers so I can put one at both lateral ends of my bed.

My phone (iPhone 8) won't do it for two reasons: (1) I can't plug my speakers into this phone and make the alarm sound come from the speakers, (2) even if I got to accomplish this, every iPhone since the iPhone 7 has been infamous for not having a 3.5 mm headphone jack, which means that if I would use the lightning port to connect speakers to my phone, I couldn't charge it, unless I also buy an overexpensive wireless Qi charging thing.

Does someone know if this even exists?

There is a smartphone app that (it claims) doesn't wake you up until you are in the right phase of sleep. The idea being that being woken at that point is less disturbing. https://www.sleepcycle.com

Have no idea if it works or is completely bogus!

  17. It's astonishing the kind of responses that my first posting got in less than a day! someone just wrote "the proof is dead". What proof? I'm not trying to prove duality of subatomic particles here... I'm saying for the first time that there's an incompatibility between space and energy that's responsible for the electric-magnetic nature of electrons... that EM waves are not formed or produced from the "thin air" as physics is trying to imply. I'm offering a process neither I nor anyone at this stage of age can prove. I'm explaining the infinite fractional nature of space within the volume of the sphere. What some geniuses here can't visualize is that a mathematical point in 3D space is a SPHERE too. Physics is ignoring the role of the irrationality of pi in the context of the FABRIC of space; not space-time since that is just a concept invented to justify reality based on our limited means for observation (the speed of light is the limit).

Why don't you take a minute or two to read in my awful English the point that I try to make instead of jumping to spit your opinions without even thinking? I'm amazed of these science forums and their civility.

thanks and you all have a wonderful day!

They said that their Prof (Professor] is dead. So they couldn't ask them the suggested question. Maybe much of your misunderstanding of basic science comes from similar failures to read carefully -- you see what you want to see, rather than what is written.

It is just one science forum of many. There are dozens of others. Maybe some of the others are more popular, if that is what you are after.

Please don't. Why would you be so keen to publicise your ignorance? Your value for pi is sufficiently wrong that, if it were correct, this would have been noticed in nearly all modern construction projects. For some reason, there isn't a 5m gap in the LHC. Perhaps because they know what the correct value of pi is and don't rely on numerology.
