  1. Whoever moves first loses. You can practice here http://pine.cs.yale.edu/java/chess.html Is this because of the betting on chess?
  2. What I suggested to Ed before is that you build an aqueduct http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aqueduct_%28water_supply%29 to bring a large volume of water to the desert which is basically how this works http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desert_farming The only difference between you and 600AD is you now have modern machines to help out.
  3. .I just said that certain plants can survive in salt water. I didn't say the desert wouldn't soak up a bit of water,
  4. Here we go http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/policies/european-standards/harmonised-standards/ecodesign/index_en.htm It seems the last change was in 2010. According to this the directive affects Air conditioners Boilers Circulators Dishwashers Electric motors Fans Lamps (directional and LED) Lamps (household) Lamps (fluorescent) Power supplies Refrigerating appliances Set-top boxes Standby and off mode Television Tumble driers Vacuum Cleaners Washer-driers (combined) Washing machines Water pumps We know about the lamps because we are already switched over to the energy saving bulbs and their new report. http://www.ecodesign-wp3.eu/sites/default/files/Ecodesign%20WP3_Draft_Task_3_report_11072014.pdf Their new report suggest banning the old CRT monitors nobody uses anymore. Also the wireless chargers. You know the wireless electricity concept which is kinda cool apparently it uses lots of electricity. People were using it to keep their smartphones charged 24/7. At the moment this report is only a recommendation.
  5. Seems to me the problem is how they are producing energy not the appliances themselves. All my electrical appliances run on green energy why should I have to stop using my electrical appliances? I am finding a lot of news related articles but nothing on the ban itself. http://ec.europa.eu/geninfo/query/resultaction.jsp?SMODE=2&ResultCount=10&Collection=EuropaFull&Collection=EuropaSL&Collection=EuropaPR&ResultMaxDocs=200&qtype=simple&DefaultLG=en&ResultTemplate=%2Fresult_en.jsp&page=1&QueryText=electrical+ban&y=0&x=0#queryText=electrical+ban&tab=europa&page=5&filterOn=0&summary=summary
  6. Think type of plant. Salt marsh plants would survive provided the water wasn't too salty. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salt_marsh Mainly though the problem would be stagnant salt water, http://kids.britannica.com/comptons/article-9275664/mangrove When you have stagnant salt water the plants can't take air from the water like they usually do so most salt marsh plants would die. However the mangrove plant takes air through its pores above the water.
  7. Ages ago an analog computer could solve mathematical equations far faster than a digital computer. This isn't really true anymore. It also has certain advantages an analog-digital computer could be put in a nuclear bomb and it would still run if hit by an emp. You would have an analog countdown timer to detonation ie a set of gears and a digital computer taking a readout of how long you have until the bomb goes boom. They are also used in nuclear reactors and nuclear launch facilities.
  8. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interference_%28wave_propagation%29 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doppler_effect
  9. Would the nucleus of the atom not be moving thus putting the electrons in a changing magnetic field?
  10. But dwarf planets included http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_possible_dwarf_planets
  11. How many planets are in the solar system?
  12. yet all of them on the same two tiny islands for 1-2 thousand years. Ah right the native gauls who were taken over by the romans. etc etc nevertheless its mostly the same families anyway. Don't forget Rome used to conscript troops from the gaul areas they took over. But the gauls were all related anyway.

    Eugenics

You mean dyslexics? gosh I wonder what leonardo da vinci and alexander graham bell would have thought about that.
  14. Would that not depend on the sample of granite itself? Relative ages of rocks are usually used when materials are lacking radioactive isotopes for absolute age. Though an interesting use of relative ages is when studying ice core samples
  15. http://www.geocraft.com/WVFossils/DatingMethods.html Search for radiometric dating http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiometric_dating
  16. I know the guy who maintains the robots he doesn't get paid very much. Himself and his boss get 7 hours work a week.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_contractor
  17. We have a timber cutting corporation here. It employs two people to maintain robots.
  18. Sounds like good advice. http://allnurses.com/general-nursing-discussion/pertussis-titer-instead-501374.html says I should get tetanus/pertussis booster shots anyway.
  19. Well I found one record after 30 or so phone calls of two of the 13 injections I need for working in a ward here.
  20. Is it okay to be immunized multiple times. Apparently my medical records don't exist.
  21. I still think the best way to prove life on other planets is to put life on say mars for example. http://www.mars-one.com/
  22. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-28977773 Do the flights need to avoid iceland again?
