  2. I have brown hair. My sister has red hair. The gene for brown hair is dominant ie if I have one brown gene I have brown hair. Therefore both of my parents must have had the red hair gene. I have roses. One is red, One is white and another is pink. A genetic cross of the red and white yields the pink color since neither gene is dominant. However breeding two pink roses can yield red(25% chance)/white(25% chance) or pink.(50% chance). Breeding red with red yields red and vice versa. Given the above information I have to move house however I can only bring one rose type with me. Which type of rose should I bring? This is a small example. Another would be the red flowers are tall and the white flowers are short. Cross the red and white flowers to make a tall white flower. I have a horse and a donkey which I can cross to make a mule. However mules tended to be infertile. Which is explained in wiki Mules and hinnies have 63 chromosomes, a mixture of the horse's 64 and the donkey's 62. The different structure and number usually prevents the chromosomes from pairing up properly and creating successful embryos, rendering most mules infertile. In humans, each cell normally contains 23 pairs of chromosomes, for a total of 46. carrots
  3. So they can view which areas of the brain are lighting up when you watch movies. Which is kind of cool for medicine. As far as I am aware though this is just an fmri it isn't implantable electronics it just takes pictures. Can they actually use this to find out what is wrong with somebody sick or are they wasting a million dollar machine? Ah I found one http://www.weizmann-usa.org/printpreview?articleid=6b8383da-c497-647c-b66d-ff00005fc039 claims to be able to diagnose autism with fmri and movies. I find it scary.

  20. Not that strange there are theories that heavier elements can be created by fusion in stars. Most likely in the core so we just wouldn't see them because they aren't on the outside of the sun. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nucleosynthesis Of course for the moment we cannot grab a star and pull it apart so they are theories at best.
  21. Debatable all we know is that the spectrum of light we can observe emitting from the star is composed of hydrogen, helium etc.
  22. I found a cool short movie on youtube
