Good idea but i just checked and the blog section is visible to search engines and so anything i put up there would be classed as published by potential publishers - writing forums get around this by having their critique sections invisible to search engines.

I could put up a story i don't plan on publishing but then i neither need feedback nor is it an example of my best work.

The stories range from 800 - 5000 words, and i only need feedback on some of the sci-fi ones so there won't be many.

I have more time on my hands now, and I'd be glad to help. What's your idea for sharing these samples of your work?

Yes, it is very difficult not to notice, that is the reason I commented on MigL’s post. Bezos has a very textbook way of showing his midlife crisis in action.

For small children I would definitely be careful with (off the top of my head) the above mentioned Grave of the Fireflies (maybe ages 10-12+), Princess Mononoke (gore and violence), maybe Nausicaa (bit of violence), Castle in the sky (ditto). And there are many movies that are certainly boring for small kids, such as Only Yesterday or From Up On Poppy Hill which are clearly not made for children as an audience in mind. It is clearly up to debate but they are clearly not sanitized as Disney mo...

I guess it's the unsanitised that i like. I let kids watch far more violent things than princess mononoke, but maybe i'm just an irresponsible uncle.

irresponsible uncle is a tautology! I remember buying a DVD for a niece with a very wrong conception of the film. And having to phone my brother and ask him to go and confiscate the DVD before niece watched it. The problem with Ghibli is that it is so well done - sadness, loss, and tragedy are not transitory story-lines like they would be in Disney; they are real and affecting

The moors, the dales, the peak district, and the Pennines are all very different. Love them all - definitely worth becoming acquanited with each of them; long walk and back to base for beer and wholesome grub - perfect

It makes you wonder why footballers get such high wages. I feel that if they were paid much the same as (say) a skilled factory worker there would be plenty willing to play and would provide just as entertaining games (IMO)

A footballer (i forget who) once said he was amazed that people pay him to play: if they didn't he'd still be down the park playing as much as he could.

You have to learn to love your voice, by practicing to make sound the way you want. To ourselves, we sound like Ramsay Bolton's dogs fighting over a squeaky-toy.

I hate how my voice sounds as well, to me it sounds high and squeaky but everyone says me and my sons all sound alike to the point of people not being able to tell us apart on the phone. And their voices are not high and squeaky to me!
